BASICS Responder, Andrew Walker, is currently on an expedition to Everest base camp to as part of a team to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. Before he left, Andy was kindly given 3 Sandpiper empty bags by The Sandpiper Trust to donate the Himalayan Rescue Association, the first of which was handed over in Kathmandu. The second bag was handed over in the village of Pheriche, located 4200m up Everest. As the trip’s paramedic, Andy has had only one team member to treat so far with mild altitude sickness. The team should reach base camp within the next week and we wish them the best of luck!
