Full-Time (37½ hours) (Job share basis will be considered)

BASICS Education Scotland aims to promote pre-hospital care in Scotland. The largest activity of BASICS Scotland is providing pre-hospital care education throughout Scotland. Much of this work is supported by NHS Education Scotland (NES). This new post is to support a project agreed with the Scottish Rural Medicine Collaborative which is working to improve recruitment and retention of health professionals in remote and rural healthcare.

This exciting new post, Clinical Lead – Remote Education Development, will be responsible for developing remote education to support our face to face training. Technical support for the development of these resources will be provided by our in-house team and external agencies. BASICS Scotland is reviewing its current educational delivery and the work undertaken suggests that remote education can save and improve the access to education for remote practitioners. This new post requires the successful applicant to work innovatively, imaginatively and not be restricted by the current limited resources available.  Responsibilities will include:-

  • Directing courses on an ongoing programme of Immediate Medical Care training courses throughout Scotland.
  • Leading on the development of remote education to support face-to-face training.
  • Working to develop a series of innovative methods of remote educational delivery using digital media.
  • Working with internal and external agencies to develop new and innovative remote educational resources.


You will be educated to degree level or have a relevant professional qualification with significant experience in NHS Scotland or a health-related field. You will have current registration as a healthcare professional with significant experience and knowledge of pre-hospital care. Moreover, you will have demonstrable experience in managing change and adapting to the use of new technology and will be an effective communicator at all levels.  You will be experienced in delivery pre hospital education/life support courses.
