The aim of the deteriorating patient skills day is to develop the skills to support the development of skills and mental models that will support your clinical practice. Aiming to reduce mortality and harm for people by focusing on early recognition of deteriorating patients through the assessment tools  such as the National Early Warning Score (NEWS).

Applying the skills and assessment tools in simulations throughout the day, you will also receive feedback using the established BASICS BIGCAT assessment tool, taking away a log-book of targeted feedback on knowledge, skills and performance relating to the deteriorating patient.
